Managing Director | FIBA Media
Andrew Ryan is the Managing Director of FIBA Media – a long term joint venture between FIBA and DAZN Group set up to manage the production, distribution and commercialisation of FIBA’s premium basketball properties and events including the men’s and women’s Basketball World Cup. Before taking on this role, Andrew was Head of Media Legal and Business Affairs with the International Olympic Committee, advising on commercial media aspects of the IOC’s operations, with a primary focus on both rights holder broadcast partner relationships and Olympic direct to consumer activities. Prior to that, he spent four years with Perform Group (now DAZN Group) where he was global Head of Legal (Commercial) and was heavily involved in the development and launch of the “DAZN” sports streaming service.
Andrew has spoken at both domestic and European conferences and seminars on matters involving the sports media sector. He has also published a number of articles on the sector, including a comprehensive analysis of direct to consumer approaches by sports which was highlighted by Leaders last year as a must-read on the topic. Away from work, he was previously an independent director of Basketball England and the Head of Fundraising and Corporate Partnerships for UK charity Cricket Without Boundaries, and competes in a diverse array of sports including cricket, curling and ice swimming.
