Director of International Development | ACB
Joan M. Carreras is currently the ACB’s Director of International Development and he is in charge of the international rights of this government body.
Throughout his 30 years in this organization, J.M. Carreras has had the opportunity to develop multiple facets related to professional managing of a premier sports property. With a Bachelor of Computing, he joined the ACB in 1990 to develop the system of official statistics in the league, being appointed as responsible for IT in 1992.
Subsequently, he led to responsibilities in the area of corporate communication and held positions as Media Director (1995-1999) and Director of On-Line Department (2000-2005).
In 2006 he reoriented his professional profile toward the business branch. As Director of Business Development, he implemented a new business line in order to produce and monetize ACB’s licensing, new technologies content or the construction of fitness centers with ACB brand. In 2008 he initiated the expansion of the ACB in the international TV markets.
From 2012 to 2014 he was also in charge of ACB's Commercial Division to lead the process of restructuring the ACB’s sponsorship model from a system managed by external agencies to a new one with an integrated in-house management.
From 2015, its main project is the expansion of the ACB as an international property, especially in the television rights market. In the summer of 2018, ACB went on to assume the integral management of all their television contracts internationally through an in-house approach (the property is currently broadcasted in 116 countries) and directly takes over all the services related to its international distribution.
